I spent six months on the Energise London project at LSx after deciding to change careers and focus on my interests in the environment. I couldn't have found a better place to start. Firstly, the people are absolutely amazing - lunches are a 'family occasion' and I have made friends which I hope will last a lifetime.
Importantly, you aren't just treated like a coffee-maker (in fact the whole office pitches in on that) but are really given the opportunity to do important and interesting tasks. I learnt a lot about how a charity works as well as areas that I find really interesting - like behaviour change. It also really helped to improve my confidence in my own abilities.
Plus, by working with a charity you really feel like you are putting back into the community. So really you get to meet great people, improve yourself and help make London a more sustainable city - win, win, win.
