What is Brentford Together?

Over the next three years (2019-2022), Brentford Together will provide local residents with free food growing and cookery sessions and wellbeing workshops.

Our team of Volunteer Community Coordinators will discuss options with individuals to offer tailored advice, signposting individuals to the most appropriate activity to improve their physical health, reduce social isolation and, ultimately, support community ties.

Why Brentford?

Brentford Together aims to tackle two of the root causes of a fragmented community in Brentford – poor physical health and social isolation – through new people-led wellbeing activities that bring people together to grow their skills.

Our Objectives

Our Challenges

Obesity in the UK is becoming more and more prevalent as 50% of adults are considered overweight or obese. Child obesity is also a growing concern with 1 in 3 children aged 4-5 and 1 in 5 children aged 10-11 being overweight or obese.

  • null

Healthy eating is an integral part of keeping our bodies and minds healthy. A lack of education on where to find our nutrients and vitamins in our food can lead to a degradation of our physical and mental wellbeing.

Within the UK, 5% to 18% of adults have reported feeling lonely often or always; a sense of social exclusion causes a response in our brains similar to that of undergoing physical pain. This is a major health concern as it can lead to other negative health issues such as depression, low self-esteem, increased risk of coronary heart disease, and other similar concerns.
