Network: The Eco
Design Network is an exclusive membership initiative in East London where
good design and environmental practices go hand in
hand. Recently, the EDN team has
been working hard on the development of an
online Toolkit which will be released very
soon. It will be a self-directed, internet-based, interactive programme
for SMEs. The programme aims to raise awareness of how smaller
businesses can operate in a more environmentally aware way and will
inform, inspire and motivate SMEs to cut their CO2 emissions
cost-effectively. The
project site will be a link from the Eco Design Network web
site. For more information about EDN,
contact Afsheen
Rashid.
Thames
Water Project: Following our work with the east London Hindu community on water
efficiency we are moving forward with Phase 2 of the
Project. We continue to recruit 5 Community Champions.
If you are interested in engaging with the community about water
issues and you live in east London, please
contact Afsheen
Rashid. More info about the champions role is
available here.
Environmental Justice
Project: We are working closely with the Pepys Estate
Community Forum in Lewisham to organise and host the first EJ community
engagement event by the end of November. We are
also recruiting community "Anchors" from the estate to
conduct the mapping of the local area highlighting "trouble-spots" such as
graffiti, lack of public transport, antisocial behaviour and
litter. If you want to read more info about the project is
