Welcome to our November/December 2007 bulletin. We've been busy launching our new guide to help London's restaurants and cafes go green as well as working with our ambassadors to spread the word on climate change at Eid on the Square, Diwali on the Square and at a special Navrati celebration. And just a reminder that we recently moved to new offices near London Bridge. You can find our new contact details here.

London's new developments will be greener
One fifth of the energy needs in all new developments in London will be provided by renewable energy after supportive evidence from LSx and partners was presented to an independent panel. The ruling was given positive support from the inspector after hearing arguments for and against the plans. The new provisions could help tackle climate change and potentially create new jobs, and inspire innovative energy efficient design. Hounslow leads with new sustainability tool
A new tool to help Hounslow better incorporate the needs of people and the environment as well as economic factors into its decision making processes has been created by LSx and partners. The user-friendly 'sustainability matrix' tool will be used to to help Hounslow determine appropriate indicators for their Local Area Agreement and will robustly assess the impacts of its existing policies and projects on the community. It could also be adapted to suit other Local Authorities. For more details contact Shalini Jayasinghe on 020 7234 9408 / s.jayasinghe@lsx.org.uk.

Spreading the word on climate change
Visitors at Eid and Diwali on the square were eager to learn more about climate change and the effects it is having on London and South Asia. We talked to hundreds of people, many of whom were keen to find out how they could play their part. The events were part of our South Asian climate change communications project. For more details contact Jane Mulholland on 020 7234 9403 / j.mulholland@lsx.org.uk.

E-cards are a gift for London
Switching to an e-version Christmas card instead of the traditional paper method could slash paper costs for London's businesses as well as helping improve London's environment. Up to a third of London's businesses send out at least 100 cards a year. Businesses simply register online to use the free e-Christmas cards at www.envirowise.gov.uk/e-card . The scheme saved up to a tonne of paper last year across the UK. More
