London Sustainability Exchange and Global Action Plan Join Forces

On the 1st December Global Action Plan (GAP) will take on London Sustainability Exchange (LSx) incorporating its valued capabilities and extensive networks.

The LSx management team and Trustees have been looking for a means of growing and extending the reach for their grassroots approach to delivering environmental justice and sustainable lifestyles. LSx pioneered the Cleaner Air 4 Schools and Communities programmes, which have raised the voices of children and disadvantaged communities in tackling air pollution. The charity has also created award-winning faith based approaches, enabling utility companies to better meet the energy and water needs of culturally diverse communities.

Global Action Plan’s heritage in running environmental campaigns which connect what is good for people and what is good for the planet was found to be a great match for LSx’s continued ambitions. GAP’s work in providing the building blocks for the clean air movement and igniting the post consumerism movement will benefit from LSx’s grassroots community engagement skills, and supporter networks. As of today all of the LSx staff team are now GAP employees, joining the GAP base in Borough and all existing LSx projects will continue under the stewardship of the existing team, boosted by GAP’s capabilities. LSx Chair Jennette Arnold AM OBE has joined the GAP board as a trustee.

The LSx name will live on for specific projects where the LSx method of community engagement is being applied.

Chris Large Senior Partner at GAP says ‘I am very excited by the opportunities brought by the fantastic LSx team joining GAP. Their skills and resources, their ideas and connections, and their proven impact will ensure our work will reach into the heart of communities, which is critical for the environmental movement to flourish.’

Gail Freeman Interim Chief Executive of LSx says ‘The climate emergency and the air pollution health crisis demand that environmental groups work ever more seamlessly. Joining up with Global Action Plan will enable us to secure the legacy of Samantha Heath, who led LSx with such skill until shortly before her passing earlier in 2019.”
