13 charitable organisations and mosques in London

Brief

Fuel poverty affects 335,000 households in London, and research has suggested that there is a higher instance of fuel poverty in ethnic minority househoulds. From LSx’s own research alongside UK Power Networks, we found that this was further exasperated in Islamic households, where they were more likely to worry about heating their homes.

Faith and Utilities: Green Mosques aimed to provide practical advice and support to help these households that may be struggling by working with local communities, especially by working alongside mosques and local organisations to train up Champions.

Achievement

During this project we:

Reached 29350 people in mosque based engagement

245071 additional people reached online and through social media

533 households supported through advice

469 pledges recorded which could save £21010 annually

Testimonial

Thanks for the training, it was really informative and relevant. We proudly support our project volunteers to pass on this information to those who need it

We are very pleased to be working with London Sustainability Exchange to offer such valuable services to our vulnerable clients, not many of them know about these services but will benefit greatly
