Jeff is the Chief Officer at the Greater London Authority. He was previously Chief Executive of the Government Olympic Executive at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport where he led the Government team which oversaw the Government’s role on London’s successful 2012 Olympic bid and prepared the Olympic legislation to create the ODA and other arrangements to carry the Olympic plans forward. On joining the GLA in 2007 Jeff was appointed as a Senior Adviser in the Mayor’s Office and subsequently became the Director of Transition to manage the changes across and after the Election in May 2008.
Jeff’s previous roles have included over 20 years as Senior Civil Servant. Among his more recent roles he has been Director General (Children, Young People and Communities) at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport; he was Principal Private Secretary to John Prescott, Deputy Prime Minister from the May 1997 General Election ; and he has been Director of Town and County Planning in the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions.
