Demonstration Projects

We are working with Black, Asian and minority ethnic led partners to develop 3 targeted campaigns to help businesses and communities make the shift to sustainability.

Two projects have already been delivered:

• Increasing Recycling in Diverse Communities 
  Our first project worked in partnership with London Borough of Tower Hamlets to support its Muslim population to recycle more.
• Hinduism and H2O 
  The second demonstration project encouraged London's Hindu communities to consume water sustainably.  This project is in partnership with Thames Water. Due to it's success, a second phase was initiated - read about it here.

Our third demonstration project has now started!

Taking forward recommendations from previous LSx research, the new project will address Environmental Justice issues. Community based, the project will involve training and mapping on issues such as fly-tipping, anti-social behaviour, access to information, and pollution factors. This should empower communities, allowing them to become more sustainable. The project is being implemented in Pepys estate within the London Borough of Lewisham in partnership with London21, Planning Aid for London and other local partners.
