Building on the lessons and success of work in 2007, Thames Water and LSx have decided to continue working on water saving strategies with the Hindu population of East London.
The message will be conveyed by enthusiastic Water Champions through a series of plumbing workshops.
Aim:
‘Phase 2’ of the ‘Hinduism and H2O’ initiative seeks to expand the existing body of knowledge on how to motivate London’s diverse communities to take up One Planet Lifestyles.
We aim to get a better understanding how the Hindu community in London views water, uses water in the home, and what approaches and mechanisms are particularly effective in promoting water efficiency. This is all as part of a wider move towards ‘One Planet’ lifestyles.
Audience:
Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi and Tamil speaking members of the Hindu Community in the London Boroughs of: Newham, Redbridge, Greenwich, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Waltham Forest
Activities and Outputs:
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Measurable, statistically reliable results which show:
- The amount of water saved (in litres, where possible
- The number of people reached by each type of activity
- Water diaries with households that have a water meter
This is an ongoing project and we will update you as we make progress.
