“The primary objective of a LAA is to deliver genuinely sustainable communities through better outcomes for local people”. (LAA Guidance, Department for Local Government and Communities, March 2006.)
We have worked with London Sustainable Development Commission, Government Office for London, London Health Commission and London Councils in an ongoing programme to embed sustainable development in the current set of Local Area Agreements.
We have created an online LAA's E-Resource bringing together guidance, good practice and case studies.
Local Area Agreements (LAAs) are a contract negotiated between local and central government. They have been rolled out in three tranches between April 2005 and April 2007. Find out more about LAAs from the London Voluntary Services Council.
The UK Government hopes that LAAs will improve co-ordination between Local Authorities, Primary Care Trusts, the Police, Job Centre Plus and the local voluntary and community sector to plan and deliver better services for the community.
