Ensuring community involvement is central to reform of the planning system. The Government’s publication ‘Community Involvement in Planning ’ (2004) (1) stresses the need to ensure a continuing commitment to improving access to both planning information and systems for everyone.
We helped produce a toolkit to provide practical advice for GLA officers and Members on involving the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) in sub-regional planning issues.
The toolkit is intended to increase the awareness of the different user groups within communities and their reqirements if they are to be involved in a timely and effective way.
With partners London Civic Forum and Planning Aid for London, we consulted with over 300 VCS bodies to inform the design of the toolkit.
