Intern opportunities 2008

More than 40 London organisations and businesses expressed interest in hosting interns in 2008.  Samples of some of the internships offered are presented below.  These will give you an idea about the diversity of employers looking for interns to help them move toward sustainability.

Commission for a Sustainable 2012 The aim of Commission for a Sustainable London 2012 (CSL) is to provide independent assurance and commentary in order to enable the sustainability objectives of the London 2012 programme to be achieved and to support a sustainable legacy. The internship involves research, reporting and advisory activities.  Some preliminary work on sustainable legacy is required to inform the work of the Commission around this area over the next 5 years.

Creative Environmental Networks (partnering with Sponge Sustainability Network ) is a not for profit organisation delivering a range of services to engage householders, businesses and communities in environmental and social improvement. Two, 8 week internships are offered within CENs planning, policy and developer support team including: a) project support (specialising in sustainable design) and, b) marketing and communications support.

Trucost Plc, an environmental research organisation, which helps companies and investors understand the environmental impacts of business activities, is a returning host employer from the 2007 scheme.  They are offering a paid internship focussing on research, database management and data analysis of 6-8 weeks.  Miho Kurosaki, their intern from 2007, now works full time for the company.

BioRegional Development Group, an entrepreneurial independent environmental organisation which develops commercially viable products and services to meet more of our everyday needs from local renewable and waste resource, to enable One Planet living, is offering an unpaid internship.  The internship could cover a variety of work from media monitoring, sustainability auditing and knowledge management, to work on projects including One Planet Living, Biomass, Food, Marketing, Sustainable Construction and Construction Waste.
