London 2012

London’s successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games was backed by a strong commitment to maximising the long-term legacy benefits. Not just in terms of jobs and skills, but a whole range of social and environmental improvements for Londoners.

The challenge now is to turn the vision into a reality. Olympic delivery bodies LOCOG and ODA will not be able to do it alone. Harnessing tools and techniques already tested in the UK and abroad – from civic engagement techniques to tri-generation – will help. As will specification of clear and consistent performance targets in contracts issued by LDA and ODA.

LSx has been involved with London 2012 since the beginning of the bid and was a member of the Environment Advisory Group that shaped the environmental chapter of the Candidate File:
