LSx’s School Governors’ Toolkit is designed specifically for Governors. It enables them through their roles within the school system to embed energy efficiency and other sustainable practices through improved behaviour and efficient use of buildings and technology. 

The toolkit supports Governors by:

• Preparing them for the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) and working towards a Sustainable School status.
• Inspiring change through exemplar behaviour.
• Offering opportunities to work with other Governors to share knowledge
• Signposting Governors to resources and research relevant to their needs.

Not only will successfully reducing carbon emissions in schools assist Local Authorities in meeting their carbon reduction targets but it will also:

• Help schools to reduce their energy bills.
• Reduce budget impacts for schools which may arise from Local Authorities claiming costs from the purchase of carbon permits.
• Meet other sustainability targets for schools, such as the DCSF’s target to make all schools Sustainable Schools by 2020.
